A Kicking Celebration
Hamden:
Gabriel Ciarleglio of
Hamden recently celebrated his 6th birthday at the Academy of Kempo
Martial Arts. Gabriel kicked off his party with friends and family, sharing with
them some of his favorite Martial Arts movements that he practices on a weekly
basis. Gabriel’s “Martial Arts Birthday Party” consisted of an introductory to
the Martial Arts, (which can help the children to defend themselves) and they
had fun playing different games that reinforced the Martial Arts movements they
learned. All of the children won prizes for their efforts with the finale being
a piñata.
“Gabriel was a great host at his party, demonstrating and sharing his movements
with his guests. Gabriel was also a great example of an Academy of Kempo Martial
Artist, leading by example so his guests could see how to act in the dojo,” said
Shihan Frank Ciarleglio, Gabriel’s instructor at the Academy. “Whatever we do at
the Academy it is imperative that we always pass along to our students, friends,
and family that the Martial Arts is much more than kicking and punching; it is
about being your best in whatever you do and avoiding situations by using you
self-control, self-discipline and respect. This is all taught in a fun and
positive environment which also helps to build self esteem,” said Shihan
Ciarleglio.
