A Step Towards Excellence

On May 9, 2007 students from the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts in Hamden and a student from the Martial Arts Training Center of Cheshire received their new ranks. There were children and adults from Cheshire, Hamden, New Haven and Woodbridge in the belt promotion working hand in hand to help each other and themselves to achieve a new level in the Martial Arts. With each new level comes a new challenge, whether it is a mental challenge or a physical challenge it helps the students to become more aware of themselves and others. The Martial Arts is a mental and a physical experience, one without the other doesn’t offer a balance, which is so important in life. There is a different proficiency level required for each belt rank; our belt advancements test the students on their mental and physical abilities to qualify them for their new rank. The Academy of Kempo Martial Arts would like to congratulate these students for their achievements. Adult Ranks (adult and teens): Yellow Belt - Len Hutchns, Orange Belt - Kate Sylvester, Purple Belts - Robert Blocker and Nicholas E. Restrepo, and Blue Belt - Michael Perrotti. Junior Ranks (four years old thru ten years old): Junior Orange Belt - Kyle Sundland, Junior Blue Belts - Michael Rotondo and Leonard A. Stevenson, Junior Blue Belts with Stripe - Kevin Antoine, Samantha Cozzolino, and Andrew Flamm, Junior Brown Belts 2nd Degree - Alexavier Lyons, Tyler Ronne and Matthew Tomlin and Junior Brown Belt 3rd Degree - Remi Farrell. The road to excellence is a continuous journey of facing and overcoming the challenges of life.
