Hamden: The children at the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts are learning at a young age some very important life lessons: they are learning how to help others and to be part of a community.
In September, the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts of Hamden kicked off their
annual food drive by dropped off their first load of food to the local soup
kitchen. The students, families and friends of the Academy have generously
donated over 13 bags of non-perishable food to date and continue to donate on a
weekly basis. The Academy thanks all the people who have helped and who continue
to support this food drive.
The
Academy of Kempo Martial Arts is accepting donations for Saint Ann’s Soup
Kitchen as well as the Keefe Center’s Food Bank. These two organizations help
many families who have a limited amount of resources available to them due to
current economic conditions. The goal of the Academy is to help these
organizations to help these families enjoy their holidays by holding this food
drive, and Academy hopes that during this season of giving that they can
encourage others to help also.
The
Academy is offering its students a free semi-private lesson for any five
non-perishable items they donate and
offering two weeks of free lessons to non-students (limited to one give away per
person and cannot be combined). The Academy is hoping that this will encourage
more people to give, and of course if you wish to give without accepting the
offer that is also encouraged.
