Hamden:
On Saturday May 31, 2008, the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts in Hamden held
their “Friend Day - Fun Day”. It was a day filled with fun learning games.
The students were great role models for their friends, helping to teach them by
leading as an example. There were contests held throughout the class and
everyone was able to win prizes to take home. Alan Cozzolino and his guest
Matthew Barnett were the grand prizewinners for the day.
“The day’s activities were designed to help build our students’ self-esteem by having them help out with the teaching. The students work hard to understand the Martial Arts movements we teach and the contests chosen for the day helped to enlighten our students and show them how well they are doing with understanding those movements. Our students also were very successful in demonstrating the school rules of respect, self-control and self-discipline. I was very proud to see how well the students were able to help their guests to understand some of the things we do here at the Academy,” said Shihan Frank Ciarleglio, a 5th Degree Black Belt and Instructor at the Hamden Academy.
