Insuring the Quality

Hamden: On May 14, 2008, students from the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts in Hamden received their new ranks. There were children, junior adults and adults from Hamden and New Haven in the belt promotion. Grandmaster Brian Hanson a 9th Degree Black Belt Instructor and Test Administrator worked with the students and evaluated their performance. “The testing process at the Academy is to evaluate the students’ performance to insure that they are receiving the highest quality of Martial Arts Training,” said Shihan Frank Ciarleglio, a 5th Degree Black Belt and Instructor at the Hamden Academy. The quality of training starts with the instructor and what they expect from their students. “This is the reason I have Grandmaster Hanson come in to evaluate the students. It’s about insuring that the students are performing at the quality that is required for advancement from an unbiased point of view. This also allows Grandmaster Hanson to evaluate the instructors’ teaching skills, which helps him to effectively train the Instructors,” Ciarleglio said.

            All of the programs at the Academy (children, teens and adults) revolve around self-defense and staying healthy in mind and body. The children’s program is also a character development program. “The Instructors at the Academy work as a team member with the families and educators of the children to help the children grow into strong well-rounded adults.” said Ciarleglio.

The Academy of Kempo Martial Arts would like to congratulate these students for their achievements. Adult Ranks (adults and teens): Yellow Belts – Anthony Williams and Muhammad Ali. Junior Ranks (four years old thru ten years old): Junior Yellow Belt – Timothy Wieland, Alexander Antoine and Gary M. Avery II. Junior Orange Belt - Miguel J.
