Hamden:
On January 9, 2008 students from the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts in Hamden
received their new ranks. There were children and adults from Hamden, New Haven
and Woodbridge in the belt promotion. Being promoted to a new rank at the
Academy takes an understanding of the movements learned for each rank and the
ability to perform those movements proficiently. For the children it is equally
important for them to show an improved understanding of how to use respect,
self-control and self-discipline. The way the Martial Arts is taught at the
Academy helps to instill the important values in a child so they can become more
successful in school, in sports and eventually turn into a responsible adult.
The Academy prides its selves on its character development program as well as
its Martial Arts program; it’s all about having a strong body and a strong
mind. This is taught in a fun atmosphere while helping students with their
physical fitness and at the same time with self-defense skills that are greatly
needed in today’s society.
The
Academy of Kempo Martial Arts would like to congratulate these students for
their achievements. Adult Ranks
(adult and teens): Yellow Belt -
Ben Hawkins, and Purple Belt - Len Hutcihns. Junior
Ranks (four years old thru ten years old): Junior
Yellow Belt – Jason Banik, Junior Blue Belt with Stripe - Ziael Aponte, and
Junior Green Belts - Kevin Antoine, Andrew Flamm, Emily Maranets and Mitchell
Stevenson Jr. For more information on the Academy you can call 288-9990 or look
