On March 5, 2011, the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts in Hamden
and Packard’s Martial Arts in Milford held a Junior Black Belt Promotion. There
were students from Milford, New Haven and Orange participating in the belt
promotion. Master Scott Packard a 6th Degree Black Belt , Lead
Instructor at Packard’s Martial Arts and Test Administrator along with Shihan
Frank Ciarleglio a 5th Degree Black Belt, Head Instructor at the
Academy of Kempo Martial Arts and Test Administrator both evaluated the
children’s performance.
To become a Junior Black Belt takes determination and
perseverance. These children have dedicated many years of their lives to their
martial arts lessons; some of those lessons were smooth going and others were
difficult. The difficult lessons really help an individual build into a strong
person. By facing the difficulty head on instead of avoiding it will help a
person to develop some of the tools needed to succeed in life. Master Packard
and Shihan Ciarleglio teach the martial arts in such a way that it builds a
person both on a physical and mental level, which helps them to overcome
adversity. The emphasis is on if you can conceive it, you can achieve it. With
the proper training of body and mind, the students learn that if they set their
mind to something it is possible to obtain it. It is all part of the equation of
success, energy applied to the correct things will bring you success.
Master Packard and Shihan Ciarleglio are very proud of these children and their
accomplishments. A special congratulation goes out to these very hard working,
dedicated and successful students for achieving their Junior Black Belt -
Raghav Sharma, Ziael Aponte, James Geib, Calvin Boyd, Tyler Pinto and Chris
Ramos.
As these Junior Black Belts return to their classes, they
will all share their accomplishment with their classmates, as to say we did this
together. It takes a team of people helping each other, building each other or
picking each other up to succeed in life. It is a great feeling for everyone
involved knowing that one person’s success is everyone’s success.
