Hamden: “It’s such a great feeling to see my students’ succeed after all of their hard work and efforts,” said Shihan Frank Ciarleglio, a 5th Degree Black Belt and Instructor at the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts in Hamden.
On
November 11, 2009, students from the Academy received their new ranks. There
were children, junior adults and adults from Hamden and West Hartford in the
belt promotion. Grandmaster Brian Hanson a 9th Degree Black Belt Instructor and
Test Administrator worked with the students and evaluated their performance.
“The testing process at the Academy is to evaluate the students’ performance to
insure that they are receiving the highest quality of Martial Arts Training,”
said Ciarleglio. The quality of training starts with the instructor and what
they expect from their students. “This is the reason I have Grandmaster Hanson
come in to evaluate the students. It is about insuring that the students are
performing at the quality that is required for advancement from an unbiased
point of view. This also allows Grandmaster Hanson to evaluate the instructors’
teaching skills, which helps him to effectively train the Instructors,”
Ciarleglio said.
All of the programs at the Academy (children, teens and adults) revolve around
self-defense (this is such an important aspect today, with unemployment rising
which ultimately means a rise in crime and personal attacks), and staying
healthy in mind and body. The children’s program is also a character development
program that helps to reinforce the important qualities of self-control,
self-discipline, respect and applying yourself. “The Instructors at the Academy
work as a team member with the families and educators of the children to help
the children grow into strong well-rounded adults.” said Ciarleglio.
The Academy of Kempo Martial Arts would like to congratulate these students for their success. Adult Ranks (adults and teens): Yellow Belts – Evan Pham, Purple Belt - Sarah Miller, Blue Belts - Michelle W. Bojarski, Shara Bouvier and Maya Caicedo, Blue Belt with Green Stripe - Cazimir Bzdyra. Junior Ranks (four years old thru ten years old): Junior Yellow Belt – Kevin Daly.
